Veterans served shoulder to shoulder with Afghan partners who saved American lives. America made a promise to protect them. That promise must be kept.
Today, tens of thousands of Afghan allies who supported U.S. forces remain in legal limbo under temporary status. Without permanent protections, many face the threat of deportation back to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, where their lives are at extreme risk.
Recent reporting confirms a freeze on immigration processing and increased federal enforcement actions taking place within our Afghan communities across the United States. Even a pause in Afghan case processing means more days waiting to escape danger or to know whether you are legally authorized to remain in the U.S., all while existing backlogs can take up to 18 years to clear. This level of delay poses serious and unacceptable risks to human life.
Congress must act now to pass three critical bills:
The Afghan Adjustment Act (H.R.4895)/ Fullfilling Promises to Our Afghan Allies Act (S.2679)
The Enduring Welcome Act (H.R.4995)
These bills provide clearer pathways to permanent legal status, strengthen lawful relocation and resettlement, and fix the broken visa system keeping families apart.
Keeping our promise to Afghan allies is a moral obligation, a national security imperative, and essential to the wellbeing of the veterans who served alongside them.
Tell Congress to ACT NOW and ensure we keep our promises to our Afghan Allies!
